THE method
Mindful Relaxation is the Path to Awareness
At Highest Good Coaching, we use relaxation as a mindfulness-based path to self-discovery. Incorporating both science and wisdom, the method is designed to uncover and release the tension held in emotional blocks. The simple process of noticing, then relaxing, frees up inner space so you can let your higher self come through.
We start by demystifying mindfulness, then we get more comfortable exploring feelings, thoughts, and actions with curiosity. Mindful noticing helps you recognize when you're caught in contraction; relaxation is how you move through it. By increasing our ability to relax through discomfort, the more life stops feeling like something to resist—and starts feeling like something you can fully experience.
Notice feelings
When we don't feel safe in our body, it is almost impossible to relax and enjoy life, resulting in suffering. Our vagus nerve, part of our autonomic nervous system, is the surveillance system of safety. If we can learn to communicate with this system through mindfulness, we can cultivate relaxation.
notice thoughts
Our self-concept has been shaped by experiences in our lives. The stories we believe about ourselves based on these experiences can be at best, limiting, and at worst, harmful to our very being. If we have the courage to get curious about these stories, we can bring them into the light and stop identifying with them.
notice actions
Our actions and reactions are based on how these stories (thoughts) and sensations (feelings) are stored within us. These patterns can keep us stuck. If we can mindfully relax when we encounter a block (a well-worn pattern), we can move through it and transform our experience.
the practice
The skill and practice of mindfully noticing is life-changing. One benefit of this relaxation process is that the "work" isn't a laundry list of "things to do," the only practice is to notice. The results can be a more connected, expansive and freeing experience of your being.

I believe self-inquiry is a path to self-realization. For the past 10 years, I discovered that some of the hardest, most challenging external circumstances can be the greatest internal teachers. I have practiced surrendering with laughter, indulging in the uncomfortable, and relaxing in the face of fear only to realize my true nature has been here the whole time! As your guide, I serve to shine the light on the inherent boundless awareness already happening within each of us.
